Our ‘One Pan’ Pepperoni Pizza

When we were searching for cast iron recipes to try out, pizza was probably at the top of the list. We were a little sceptical if it would have the same flavour and taste like a ‘normal’ pizza but to our surprise… it tasted even BETTER!

It doesn’t seem possible to make your own pizza in around 20 minutes, but by following these simple steps, using a STAUB Round Cast Iron Sauté Pan, you can have super tasty pizza in no time at all.

We have kept it quite simple – Pepperoni Pizza – but the topping combinations are endless and that is where the fun part comes in, as long as you follow the overall method, it doesn’t really matter what your choice of toppings are.

Ingredients

No Rise Dough

500g Strong White Flour

2 tbps Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 tsp Baking Powder

2 tbps Natural Yogurt

1 tsp Salt

200ml Warm Water

Pizza Sauce

200g Passata

2 tbps Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1 clove garlic, crushed, or a tbsp of frozen chopped garlic (which is my go to these days!)

1 tsp Chilli Flakes

Toppings

20 slices of Pepperoni

200g grated mozzarella

125g Ball Buffalo Mozzarella

Chilli Flakes (optional)

Small handful of fresh basil leaves

Method

1. First, you need to heat your oven as high as it will go.

2. To make the dough, mix the flour and baking powder with ½ tsp of salt. Add the water, yogurt and oil and mix together and knead until you have a smooth dough (or use a bread mixing machine like a Kitchen Aid)

3. Heat the oil in a STAUB Cast Iron Frying Pan over a low-medium heat. Add the garlic and chilli followed by the passata. Simmer for a few minutes.

4. Heat your STAUB Round Cast Iron Sauté Pan over a medium-high heat on the hob. Add a little of the remaining oil to this and allow to heat.

5. Divide the dough into 4 and roll each out to the size of your STAUB pan. Put in one of the pizza bases and cook for a minute until it bubbles lightly, then spread ¼ of the sauce and scatter with pepperoni and cheese.

6. Put in the oven for 5-6 minutes until the cheese has melted. As soon as it comes out (use some heat proof oven gloves!) add a pinch of chilli flakes and scatter over some basil leaves for decoration. Slide onto a board, and slice up using a pizza cutter.

With the 3 remaining doughs, you can use the remaining topping ingredients to make 3 more pizzas, or why not try some alternative toppings and get creative!
